Play Style

A downhill, physical inside linebacker who plays through traffic rather than around it. On film he trusts his reads, fills gaps quickly, and has enough range to run plays down toward the sideline. He's at his best as a run defender between the tackles, filling his gap and finishing tackles. He plays with obvious energy and talks a lot pre-snap, which is a big part of why the staff values him. He projects as a run-first MIKE/WILL whose coverage still has to develop.

Strengths

• Already SEC inside-linebacker size: listed at 6-3/236-238 as a true freshman, so he can take on and shed blocks from guards and fullbacks without a multi-year strength build
• Instincts in traffic: evaluators say he excels at sifting through traffic and finding the ball carrier, which shows in his production. As a sophomore he had 77 tackles, 5 TFL and 2 sacks in nine games
• Intangibles and communication: Kalen DeBoer called him 'a physical guy, he's an energy guy, he's positive' and praised his communication, which matters for a MIKE/WILL who has to make the defensive calls
• Proven at camp: he earned the offer by performing at an Alabama camp, so the staff saw his movement and coachability in person, not just on film

Areas to Improve

• Durability and production: as a junior he played only seven games (39 tackles, 2 TFL), down from his sophomore output. Staying healthy and turning his size into more disruptive plays behind the line is the first priority
• Coverage and space play: like most three-star thumpers, he'll need to clean up his drops, pattern-match on tight ends and running backs, and change direction better before he can stay on the field on third down against SEC spread offenses
• Pass-rush toolbox: he has only two verified career sacks, so he needs to develop timing and hand moves on interior blitzes to be a three-down linebacker
• Processing at SEC speed: reading run-pass and run fits against college offensive lines, including RPO conflicts, is the main jump from AL 6A-7A football

College Projection

Hall is fourth team at inside linebacker in 2026, behind Caleb Woodson/QB Reese, Luke Metz/Cayden Jones and Duke Johnson II/Xavier Griffin. The realistic Year 1 plan is a redshirt using the four-game allowance, plus special-teams reps (kickoff and punt coverage suit his size and energy). In 2027-28 he projects as a core special-teams player and rotational run-down backup. A starting role is a Year 3-4 possibility if his coverage and speed develop. Leadership and special-teams value give him a stable roster floor even if he never becomes a full-time starter.

Best Fit

A 4-2-5 or 3-4 defense with a defined run-stopping MIKE/WILL role and a nickel defender or safety covering in space, so his downhill physicality is maximized and his coverage limits are hidden. Alabama's structure under DeBoer fits, and so does any program that values special teams and in-state culture fits on its depth chart. At a Group of Five or lower-tier Power 4 school (for example, Virginia Tech, his runner-up) he'd likely have started earlier. At Alabama, his path depends on development and special-teams value.
