Madden Williams is a 4-star Wide Receiver from Irvine, CA (St. John Bosco) in the 2026 class. Ranked No. 210 nationally, No. 36 at WR, No. 21 in CA. Composite rating: 0.9211. Committed to Texas A&M University since December 27, 2024.

Physical Profile

Listed at 6-1, 192 lbs. Taller than 43% and heavier than 78% of 2026 Wide Receiver prospects in the SEC Scouts database (329 with a listed size).

Play Style

Williams is a physical receiver with a possession-receiver skill set and the ability to make explosive plays. He is at his best on back-shoulder throws, fades, and dig and comeback routes where his body control and hands decide the play. On film he attacks the ball at its highest point, catches cleanly away from his body and absorbs contact through the catch. He sets up defenders with changes of pace rather than pure speed. His 20.3 yards per catch as a senior came mostly from yards after the catch and big plays downfield on contested throws, not from simply outrunning defenders. He lines up both outside and in the slot, and his competitiveness is a consistent theme in scouting notes.

Strengths

  • Contested catches: uses his frame and leaping ability to win 50-50 balls and 'bring the ball down at all costs' (TexAgs evaluation). This is backed by 28 career touchdowns on 133 receptions, one touchdown every 4.75 catches.
  • Route running and knowing how to get open: Biggins called him a 'clever route runner who knows how to get open.' He won MVP at the Under Armour Flight School camp in June 2025, and Biggins wrote that no receiver in the West impressed more on the camp and 7v7 circuit.
  • Strong hands and production against top competition: 2,157 career yards in the Trinity League, the toughest league in California. He averaged 20.3 yards per catch as a senior (39 catches, 787 yards, 9 TDs in 9 games), and was named California WR of the Year and a Navy All-American Bowl selection.

Areas to Improve

  • Long speed and ability to stretch the field: he wins deep balls with body position and timing rather than by running past defenders. Better sprint speed and top-end acceleration would stop SEC corners from sitting on his underneath routes.
  • Beating press coverage and creating separation against faster SEC corners: his route running creates space at the high school level, but he will need a stronger release plan and hand technique to get clean off the line against the long, fast cornerbacks he will face every week in the SEC.

College Projection

As an early enrollee with an already mature body, Williams is a realistic candidate to rotate in during 2026, most likely in red-zone and third-down packages where his contested-catch skill has an immediate impact. The more likely path is a full-time starting role in 2027-2028 as a boundary 'X' receiver or big slot. Biggins projects him as a potential No. 1 receiver at the Power 4 level, but that depends on improving his speed.

NFL Outlook

Williams projects as a mid-round (Rounds 3-5) NFL prospect, with room to rise if his speed develops. NFL teams value receivers with his hands, catch radius and route skill (a similar profile to Jakobi Meyers or Michael Pittman Jr.), but a 40-yard dash in the 4.5+ range would limit how high he goes. If he runs in the mid-4.4s and produces 800+ yard seasons in the SEC, a Day 2 pick (Rounds 2-3) is realistic.

Best Fit

Williams fits best in a pro-style or timing-based passing offense that uses a boundary 'X' receiver on back-shoulder throws and in the red zone and moves receivers around the formation to create favorable matchups. Texas A&M is a good fit because the offense needs a physical option at receiver next to faster players like his classmate Aaron Gregory. He would be less valuable in a vertical, speed-based scheme that relies on receivers simply running past defenders.
