Play Style

An instinctive, ball-hunting defensive back who plays with a running back's physicality and a receiver's hands. On film, his most natural fit is off-coverage or a nickel/robber role, where he can read the quarterback, trigger downhill, and make plays on the ball. Four interceptions on a 30-tackle season suggest a defender who wins more with anticipation and ball skills than with volume tackling. With the ball in his hands after a turnover or on returns, his offensive background shows: tempo, vision, and willingness to take contact. He is an attacking, competitive player rather than a passive coverage defender.

Areas to Improve

• Needs full-time DB technique. Splitting reps with offense has held back his footwork: press-bail transitions, pedal-to-drive efficiency, and staying square in off-man coverage will need work under a college DB coach
• Size-dependent role. At about 5-10 to 6-0 and 180-190 lb, he has to prove he can match up with bigger outside receivers or become a reliable tackler at safety or nickel. Adding functional strength for run fits is a priority
• Coverage-scheme reads: moving from Pennsylvania small-school competition to ACC passing concepts will require faster processing of route combinations and zone-match rules

College Projection

UNC's Belichick-led staff recruited him as a defensive back (Rivals lists him at safety). Expect his early value to come on special teams, possibly as a returner given his skills with the ball, with rotational DB snaps depending on depth. A realistic path is a year or two of special teams and sub-package work (nickel or dime safety), then competing for a starting nickel or safety job by his third year. How fast he rises depends mostly on how quickly his technique catches up to his athleticism now that he plays one position.

NFL Outlook

A long-range Day 3 draft candidate. His 4-star grade, versatility, and ball skills fit the nickel/safety/special-teams profile NFL teams value, and playing in a pro-style defense under an NFL-oriented staff helps his visibility. Reaching draft-caliber level will require settling into one position, adding functional mass, and producing in coverage against ACC competition. Without that, he projects as an undrafted free agent or special-teams specialist.

Best Fit

A multiple, pro-style defense that uses a hybrid nickel/star or rotating safety, lets him play downhill from depth, and rewards ball skills and football IQ over pure length. North Carolina's NFL-style system under Belichick is a strong fit, especially if the staff also uses his return ability early. He is less suited to schemes that ask him to press and carry bigger boundary receivers on an island every snap.
