Play Style

Doughty wins mostly with movement and length. He can get out of his stance quickly for an athlete his size and cover the edge in pass protection. His agility should also make him a good fit for zone blocking and for pulling or climbing to linebackers in the run game. In pass protection, his reach lets him keep rushers off his frame even when his feet aren't perfectly set. He is a developmental tackle at Alabama and will most likely redshirt in 2026, using the season for strength work and technique. He projects as swing-tackle depth by 2027 and a contender for a starting tackle spot in 2028-2029 if he adds good mass and holds onto his agility. If his strength gains come slowly, his lateral movement also gives him a fallback option at guard.

NFL Outlook

His NFL potential rests on his traits. Tall, lean, agile tackles who fill out their frames are exactly what NFL scouts look for. If he reaches about 315 pounds with his movement intact and becomes a multi-year SEC starter, he has a realistic Day 2-3 draft outlook, with more upside if his technique and anchor develop fully. Best Fit

A program with an established offensive line development system and the patience to redshirt him. Alabama fits: its strength staff can add mass while keeping his agility, and he can sit behind veteran tackles for a year. Schematically he fits best in a zone-heavy or mixed run scheme that uses his ability to move laterally and climb to the second level, paired with a pass offense built on quick sets and length at tackle.
