Play Style

Fort plays aggressively and downhill. Dawgnation described him as a 'heat-seeking missile' as a Georgia freshman. On film he reads run and pass quickly from the box or overhang, avoids or beats blockers in space, and arrives at the ball carrier with bad intentions. In coverage he's most comfortable close to the line: he re-routes and mirrors in man from the slot, and in zone he reads the quarterback in the flat and hook-curl areas. He looks to take the ball away and plays like a vocal defensive leader. He is less natural as a deep-half defender who has to cover a lot of ground.

Strengths

• Run defense and tackling. 247Sports' Andrew Ivins called him a 'plus tackler' who roams the flats and makes stops in gaps. He fills downhill and hits hard on arrival, and he rarely ends up in a bad body position.
• Man coverage at the first and second levels. His IMG DB coach, Aubrey Kidd, says he has competed in man coverage since his freshman year against elite receivers, including Carnell Tate. That is unusual for a player built like a box safety and makes him a real option at nickel.
• Ball production and instincts. He has a habit of punching or ripping the ball loose in pursuit and jumps routes from zone looks. Four years as a starter against IMG's national schedule sharpened his play recognition.
• Communication and leadership. He sets the defense before the snap and was IMG's first four-year captain. Staffs value that when they rotate young DBs into sub-packages.
• Versatility. Coaches say he can play free safety, strong safety or Star, so he can back up several spots, which helps a young player get on the field in a deep secondary.

Areas to Improve

• Range from the post. He does not have the long speed or length to be a single-high or deep-third defender, so a coordinator who wants him deep has to limit how often he's there. Better angles and quicker keys will help but won't fully close the gap.
• Size against big slot receivers and tight ends. At about 5-11, he'll need strong hand technique, leverage and timing at the catch point to hold up against 6-4 targets on contested balls in the SEC.
• Limited physical upside. Because he's older for the class, most of his growth has to come from technique and strength training rather than a bigger frame. That supports the view that his floor is higher than his ceiling.

College Projection

Georgia signed Fort as the headliner of its 2026 DB class, and he's on the 2026 roster. He had ties to Georgia's DB coaches through their earlier jobs at USC and Alabama. The expected path is special teams and some sub-package snaps as a freshman, since his tackling and physical play fit coverage units right away. He should then compete for the Star/nickel job in 2027, and his most likely peak is as a multi-year starter at Star or strong safety by his third year (2028). Georgia's secondary is deep, so he may not start early, but his command of the defense and consistency make him low-risk to develop.

NFL Outlook

His profile is closer to a Day 3 pick than a first-rounder, because NFL teams will question his 5-10/5-11 height and his range as a deep safety. The path to being drafted is developing into a productive nickel/Star defender in a Georgia defense that NFL teams trust, then testing well in short-area agility drills and bringing core special-teams value. Compact, physical nickels with ball production, like Georgia's past Star defenders, can reach the middle rounds with two seasons of strong starting film. The most likely range is rounds 4-6, with some chance of Day 2 if his coverage production stands out.

Best Fit

A match-quarters or pattern-match defense with a dedicated Star/nickel role, like Georgia's or Alabama's, fits him best. That kind of scheme lets him align in the box or the slot, play man at the first and second levels, fit the run downhill and blitz from depth, while a longer free safety covers deep. He would be a poor fit in a single-high, Cover-3-heavy scheme that asks a safety to cover the post every snap.
