Montre Jackson is a 4-star Cornerback from Garland, TX (Lakeview Centennial High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 223 nationally, No. 21 at CB. Composite rating: 0.9186. Committed to University of Texas.

Physical Profile

Listed at 6-0, 180 lbs. Taller than 28% and heavier than 50% of 2027 Cornerback prospects in the SEC Scouts database (32 with a listed size).

Play Style

He's a speed-and-length corner who plays the ball. Reports point to quick play-recognition instincts and an ability to finish at the catch point, shown by his high PBU count against few completions. He prefers to press and get physical early, using his length to slow releases and his top speed to run in phase down the sideline. Teams largely avoided his side as a junior, so his film shows more hidden coverage value than tackle production.

Strengths

  • Verified track speed (10.5 wind-legal 100m) lets him stay on top of go routes and recover when he's beaten at the line. Saturday Down South called him one of the fastest DBs in the 2027 class.
  • Ball production as a junior: 9 pass breakups and 1 INT, and reportedly allowed only 3 catches all season while earning 9-6A First-Team All-District in a DFW 6A district.
  • Length at 6-0/6-1 for press-man work. He models his game after Tariq Woolen and wants to play physically, which suits an outside corner's job of re-routing receivers.
  • His recruiting interest was legitimate: about 40 FBS offers and a final eight with multiple SEC and Big 12 programs, which shows many staffs graded him as a P4 starter-type corner.

Areas to Improve

  • Add functional strength. At 170-180 lbs, bigger receivers can push him off in contested catches and slow down his press jams, and he may get run past or into blockers on perimeter runs.
  • Tackling volume and finishing. 20 junior tackles largely reflects how rarely he was targeted, but his open-field tackling against college backs has not been shown and will be evaluated in camp.
  • Technical polish in off-man and zone. A speed-first prospect can rely on recovery speed, so his patience in the backpedal, pattern-matching and eye discipline need refinement for a multiple coverage scheme.

College Projection

He projects as a boundary or field corner at Texas. He'll likely spend year one on special teams and in the two-deep while adding weight, compete for a rotational role in year two, and be a realistic starter by year two or three if he gets to about 190 lbs. Texas's recent string of DBs who became NFL picks (Barron, Mukuba) shows the development path he'll follow.

NFL Outlook

He has Day 2-3 draft potential if he adds mass. NFL teams pay for corners at 6-0+ with legitimate 10.5 100m speed, and his Woolen-style length and speed profile is the one scouts project. Whether he goes higher depends on reaching 185-190 lbs without losing speed and on showing reliable tackling and zone discipline in college.

Best Fit

Press-man or match-quarters schemes that put him outside, one-on-one, and let his recovery speed and length take receivers away, like the Texas defense he chose. He fits less well in a soft-zone, tackle-heavy nickel role until he adds weight.
