Scouting Report
Iveon Lewis is a 4-star Wide Receiver from Richmond, VA (Huguenot High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 373 nationally, No. 60 at WR. Composite rating: 0.8970. Committed to University of South Carolina.
Physical Profile
Listed at 6-2, 190 lbs. Taller than 67% and heavier than 72% of 2027 Wide Receiver prospects in the SEC Scouts database (36 with a listed size).
Play Style
Lewis is a vertical boundary receiver who stretches the field. At Huguenot the offense uses him as its explosive-play weapon on go routes, posts and deep overs where his length and long speed beat single coverage. The per-catch numbers say he wins after the catch too, turning intermediate receptions into long gains rather than falling down at the catch point. He looks most comfortable as the X receiver, isolated to the field side or boundary, where he can win outside releases and high-point the ball. He has not yet shown himself as a high-volume, short-area separator.
Strengths
- Big-play production across two seasons: 45 catches for 1,069 yards and 14 TD (23.8 YPC) in 2024, then 42 catches for 1,046 yards and 12 TD (24.9 YPC) with first-team all-state honors in 2025. Averaging nearly 25 yards per catch as the focal point of a public-school offense shows he threatens coverage vertically every snap.
- Size and length for the X/boundary role: at 6-2 he can win contested catches, back-shoulder throws and fades, which gives him a floor as a red-zone target even before his route tree develops.
- Heavily recruited at the Power 4 level: offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Indiana, plus a Kentucky commitment, mean several staffs with strong receiver evaluations grade him as a starting-caliber SEC/Big Ten receiver.
- Scores often: 26 touchdowns on 87 catches over two seasons, a very high rate that suggests he finishes plays and turns downfield chances into points.
Areas to Improve
- Play strength and weight: at 185 he has to add 10-15 pounds of functional mass to release against SEC press corners and hold up as a perimeter blocker in South Carolina's run game.
- Route detail and underneath volume: about 21 catches per season at nearly 25 yards each means his production is weighted toward vertical shots and busted coverage. He needs to show he can sell stems, sink into breaks on intermediate routes (digs, comebacks, curls) and be a reliable target on third down, not just a home-run threat.
- Level of competition: Virginia public-school secondaries rarely match SEC length and speed, so his separation numbers will shrink in college. Camp reps against top DBs and his senior film will show how much of his production comes from pure speed and how much from technique.
College Projection
He projects as an outside X/Z receiver at South Carolina. Expect year one (2027) to be a developmental season: special teams, spot duty as a vertical rotation piece, and likely a redshirt-eligible count while he adds weight. He should compete for a starting outside role by year two or three, once his frame reaches 195-200 and his route tree grows. His ceiling is a WR1-type boundary threat averaging 16+ yards per catch at the SEC level.
NFL Outlook
As a 4-star with a 6-2 frame and proven explosive production, Lewis has a legitimate NFL path if he adds strength and route polish. NFL teams will want to see him play at 195-205 pounds with verified speed in the 4.4-4.5 range. If he becomes a consistent SEC starter with double-digit-YPC seasons, he projects as a Day 2-3 draft candidate. The big-bodied vertical X receiver is always in demand, but his draft ceiling depends on whether he develops from a deep threat into a complete route runner.
Best Fit
Lewis fits best in a spread or pro-spread offense with an aggressive downfield passing game and a quarterback who will throw to him in one-on-one coverage on the boundary. South Carolina's current offense, which uses its outside receivers for vertical shots and RPO throws, suits his skills. He would benefit most from a strength program that adds mass quickly and a position coach who emphasizes releases against press and intermediate route timing.
