Scouting Report
Kingston Miles is a 4-star Running Back from Saint Louis, MO (Saint Mary's High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 296 nationally, No. 22 at RB. Composite rating: 0.9068. Committed to University of Missouri.
Physical Profile
Listed at 6-0, 195 lbs. Taller than 79% and heavier than 29% of 2027 Running Back prospects in the SEC Scouts database (24 with a listed size).
Play Style
Miles is a one-cut, downhill runner who presses the line, makes one decisive move and accelerates into the second level. His game is burst more than elusiveness: he reaches top speed quickly and turns seams into long runs, which is how he averaged close to eight yards a carry. He is a willing receiver out of the backfield and can threaten the defense on screens, swing routes and angle routes, not just check-downs. His defensive snaps show he initiates contact rather than avoiding it, and that shows up in how he finishes runs.
Strengths
- Big-play output. He ran 265 times for 2,098 yards and 26 TD as a junior (about 7.9 yards per carry), and he became the first player in St. Mary's history to run for 170+ yards with a touchdown in five straight games. The production was steady, not one or two outlier games.
- Receiving ability. He caught 12 passes for 236 yards and a TD (19.7 yards per catch), and evaluators noted he caught the ball well at Under Armour St. Louis. That makes him a real three-down option who can run routes out of the backfield instead of a runner who only lines up in the I-formation.
- Burst and quick decisions. His fast-twitch profile lets him plant and get vertical in one cut, which fits the zone and gap-scheme running games used by SEC offenses like Missouri's.
- Physical edge from playing defense. The 10 tackles for loss as a two-way player suggest he's comfortable with contact, which should help as a pass protector and a finisher on runs.
Areas to Improve
- Adding strength and weight. At about 190-195 he needs 10-15 more pounds of functional mass to handle SEC inside runs and to hold up in blitz pickup against linebackers weighing 230 pounds or more.
- Pass protection technique. Like most high school backs who carry the ball 250+ times, he has had little formal work on reading blitzes and setting his feet as a blocker. That skill decides when a freshman back sees the field on third down.
- Consistency against better competition. His junior numbers came against Missouri small-school opponents. Evaluators will want to see him hold up against strong defenses and in all-star or camp settings before he is graded as a clear top-200 prospect.
College Projection
He is a likely early enrollee or summer arrival at Missouri. Given how many backs Mizzou has recruited and its recent pipeline from St. Mary's, a heavy freshman workload isn't guaranteed. A realistic path is special teams and rotational carries in Year 1 (preserving a redshirt under the four-game rule if the room is crowded), then a split of carries in Year 2 once he reaches about 205 pounds. He could become a featured back in Years 3-4. His receiving skills could get him onto the field sooner as a third-down or change-of-pace back if his pass protection develops.
NFL Outlook
He has day-three draft upside with a path to the middle rounds. The NFL values backs who combine burst, receiving ability and pass protection. Miles has the first two, and his draft stock will depend on adding weight without losing speed and on proving himself as a blocker. If he becomes a 205-210 pound back who averages 6+ yards per carry in SEC play and catches passes regularly, he fits the modern NFL committee back profile. As a lighter back who only carries the ball, he projects more as a priority free agent.
Best Fit
His best fit is a zone or gap-hybrid spread offense that gets backs into space and uses them in the passing game, which is what Missouri does and why the flip made sense. A program with a strong strength-and-conditioning staff, and patience to let him add mass for a year before handing him a full workload, would get the most from his burst and receiving ability.
