Scouting Report
Adryan Cole is a 4-star Safety from Douglasville, GA (Douglas County High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 166 nationally, No. 18 at S. Composite rating: 0.9321. Committed to University of Georgia.
Physical Profile
Listed at 6-1, 200 lbs. Taller than 44% and heavier than 84% of 2027 Safety prospects in the SEC Scouts database (32 with a listed size).
Play Style
An aggressive, downhill safety who reads his keys and closes fast on in-breaking and intermediate routes. He can drop from two-high depth or rotate down near the box without looking out of place. In open space he comes to balance under control and wraps with good form instead of throwing his shoulder, which fits Georgia's emphasis on sure tackling in space. His experience on offense shows in how he handles the ball and adjusts to throws in the air. His coach's Berry comparison is about the whole package: physical, fast, and a player who understands the game rather than relying only on speed.
Strengths
- Range and trigger: 247Sports says he has a real trigger to close on intermediate routes, plus enough long speed to cover vertical routes from depth. That makes him a credible single-high or two-deep option, not just a box safety.
- Open-field tackling: his coach says 'He tackles so well' and scouts say he tackles with good technique and authority. His 69 tackles, 2 TFL and 1 sack as a junior, while also playing both ways, show he actually finishes plays against the run.
- Versatility: projected as either a free or strong safety, and White thinks he can play some cornerback. That gives Georgia's defensive staff room to use him at the Star/nickel and in dime packages.
- Ball skills and football IQ: White describes him as 'knowledgeable' with 'great ball skills' and compares him to Eric Berry (whom White also coached) and current UGA safety Tyriq Green. That is strong praise from a coach who has had an All-Pro in his program.
Areas to Improve
- Turning pass breakups into turnovers: he had only 1 interception as a junior. Given how much his range and ball skills are praised, a senior season with more takeaways would back up the grades. He needs to finish at the catch point more often.
- Adding weight and specializing: playing both ways and moving from Pace Academy to Douglas County has spread his reps around. He needs to add 10-15 pounds to hold up in the box against SEC run games, and he needs more reps at disguising coverage and communicating checks on the back end before he can be trusted as the quarterback of the secondary.
College Projection
Year 1 (2027): a special-teams core player and rotational dime/safety, following the path Georgia has used with freshman safeties like Tyriq Green. Years 2-3: competes for a starting hash-safety job, with a chance to open at strong safety or the Star if the depth chart allows. By his third year he projects as a multi-year SEC starter, and his coverage-plus-tackling combination could earn all-conference consideration.
NFL Outlook
As a consensus four-star safety in the top 170 overall, he has a realistic Day 2 NFL draft ceiling if he adds weight and becomes a consistent playmaker on the ball. NFL teams value long, rangy safeties who can play both deep and down in the box and tackle in space, and that is how he is described. The main risks are whether he makes enough plays on the ball and whether he can take on bigger blocks as a box defender. If he produces as a two-to-three-year starter at Georgia, a mid-round floor is reasonable.
Best Fit
A multiple, pattern-matching defense that rotates safeties after the snap and asks them to play both halves and the box, which describes Georgia's system under Kirby Smart. He fits best where he can play field or boundary hash safety, with flexibility to slide to the Star or nickel against 11 personnel. Heavy-rotation schemes that value open-field tackling and disguise will get the most out of his range and trigger.
