Scouting Report
Davin Davidson is a 4-star Quarterback from Sarasota, FL (Cardinal Mooney High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 109 nationally, No. 6 at QB. Composite rating: 0.9511. Committed to University of Florida.
Physical Profile
Listed at 6-7, 210 lbs. Taller than 100% and heavier than 73% of 2027 Quarterback prospects in the SEC Scouts database (22 with a listed size).
Play Style
He is a rhythm-and-timing distributor who wins from the pocket with his height, a quick setup and a live arm. Efficient passing is the core of his game: 11.1 yards per attempt and a 64.6% completion rate on modest volume suggest an offense built on explosive shots off play-action and good reads, not dink-and-dunk. He takes care of the ball, throws with touch and velocity on vertical routes, and at camps he repeats his mechanics well against air and one-on-ones. He is not a scrambler. His game depends on protection and on processing quickly before pressure gets home.
Strengths
- Ball security and decision-making: a 23-to-6 TD-to-INT ratio on 212 attempts as a junior, in a season that ended with a state title
- Vertical arm talent: hit the crossbar from 50 yards at the Elite 11 Finals, the first QB there to do it, and throws the deep ball without a big windup
- Accuracy in structured settings: went 16-of-20 on Elite 11 Night 2 Pro Day, starting 5-for-5, after winning Alpha Dog honors at the Miami Regional
- Frame and release: at 6-6 he sees the middle of the field clearly and can work between the hashes against interior pressure
- Winning production: led a 14-1 state championship team and has Mooney unbeaten through three games in 2026 as the defending 2A champ
Areas to Improve
- Adding weight and core strength so he can take hits in the pocket and keep his velocity late in games and late in the season
- Mobility and escaping pressure: 81 rushing yards as a junior shows little off-script creation, and SEC pass rushers will close the pocket faster than Class 2A fronts
- Volume and pace: 212 attempts in 15 games (about 14 per game) is a light passing load, so he still has to show he can carry an offense in a pass-first, high-tempo game
- Level of competition: most of his production came in Class 2A, so it needs to hold up against top-classification and national opponents
College Projection
He fits a developmental redshirt path in Gainesville. A realistic plan is a redshirt year in 2027 spent on strength and conditioning and learning the offense, then competing for QB2 in 2028. That puts him in the starting-QB conversation around 2029 if his body and processing develop as expected. At his size, strength-program progress is the key factor in his timeline.
NFL Outlook
He has a legitimate NFL body type. Scouts value a 6-6 pocket passer with a proven vertical arm and a low interception rate. His draft ceiling depends on two things: filling out to about 230-235 pounds without losing arm speed, and showing he can create or at least slide in the pocket under pressure. If he becomes a multi-year SEC starter, a mid-round-or-better outcome is realistic. The profile carries typical early-career development risk.
Best Fit
A pro-style or play-action-heavy spread that stretches the field vertically, protects well, and asks the quarterback to throw from the pocket rather than run. A staff with a proven QB-development track record and patience for a redshirt year gives him the most upside. Florida is a good fit on those terms, and he cited 'relationships with the coaches, development plan, and winning games' as his deciding factors.
