Aidyn Wiggins is a 4-star Cornerback from Duncan, SC (James Byrnes High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 297 nationally, No. 18 at CB. Composite rating: 0.9067. Committed to Auburn University.

Physical Profile

Listed at 6-1, 180 lbs. Taller than 47% and heavier than 50% of 2027 Cornerback prospects in the SEC Scouts database (32 with a listed size).

Play Style

He plays like a long, fluid man-coverage corner who stays with receivers rather than guessing. His coach lined him up against the other team's best receiver, and he used his length and closing speed to break up throws at the catch point. His track background shows in how quickly he gets to top speed when he flips his hips on vertical routes. His production comes from breakups and chasing loose balls rather than big hits, so he looks like a cover-first corner who still needs to show he's physical.

Strengths

  • Length plus speed: 6-1 with 10.6 speed is uncommon at corner, so he can stay on the hip of vertical routes, and his long arms turn contested catches into breakups.
  • Ball production: coverage of his junior season credits him with 17 pass breakups in 12 games (247's profile shows 5, so the count is disputed). When he's in position, he gets his hands on the ball rather than just shadowing the receiver.
  • Coverage results: his coach describes a three-game stretch where he allowed one catch for five yards, and says he matches up with an opponent's top receiver instead of staying on one side of the field.
  • Big plays on turnovers: a forced fumble and a 40-yard scoop-and-score in 2025 show he chases the ball and has return ability after takeaways.

Areas to Improve

  • Strength: he needs 10–15 pounds of good weight to win at the line in press and to hold up against 210–220-pound SEC receivers. Physical receivers who drive through his jam are the main risk early on.
  • Tackling and run support: 25 tackles as a junior fits a corner teams avoided, but it also means little film of him playing downhill, shedding blockers or making open-field tackles. He'll need to prove that before an SEC staff trusts him on early downs.
  • Ball skills turning into interceptions: no interceptions are publicly credited to him despite all the breakups. Finishing plays by tracking the ball and attacking the catch point is the next step.

College Projection

Expect him to spend 2027 on special teams and in the corner rotation while he adds strength, with a redshirt a real possibility given Auburn's depth at defensive back. If he adds weight on schedule, he should compete for a starting boundary spot or a major rotation role as a redshirt freshman or sophomore (2028–29). Auburn DB coach DeMarcus Van Dyke, a former NFL corner, was the main reason he committed, which helps his development. His commitment isn't locked: South Carolina and FSU are both working to flip him, so it isn't certain he signs with Auburn.

NFL Outlook

His measurables fit what the NFL looks for in an outside corner: 6-1 or taller with verified 4.4 speed. His draft chances depend on whether he reaches about 195 pounds with no loss of speed and starts turning breakups into interceptions. If he becomes a two-year SEC starter, he projects as a Day 2 or Day 3 corner. His current 3-star/low-4-star rating reflects how far he still has to develop, not a low ceiling.

Best Fit

A defense that plays press-man and Cover 1/Cover 3 on the outside and lets him use his length at the line and his speed downfield, with a DB coach known for developing technique. Auburn fits well. He is less suited, early on, to a defense that asks corners to blitz or play a big role against the run before he's added weight.
