Darrius White is a 3-star Cornerback from Fairburn, GA (Creekside High School) in the 2027 class. Ranked No. 579 nationally, No. 85 at CB. Composite rating: 0.8833. Committed to University of Alabama.

Physical Profile

Listed at 6-2, 170 lbs. Taller than 78% and heavier than 16% of 2027 Cornerback prospects in the SEC Scouts database (32 with a listed size).

Play Style

Based on his frame and how he was recruited, White projects as a boundary corner who uses his length: he can jam at the line, stay on the receiver's hip vertically and use his reach to play through the receiver's hands at the catch point. He fits press-man and Cover 3 or quarters assignments where his length takes away the outside third and contested throws. I couldn't find a detailed public film breakdown with snap-level tendencies or verified individual stats for his junior season, so this projects from his traits and role and isn't a film-confirmed assessment.

Strengths

  • Rare length for the position: a 6-3 frame lets him press and re-route receivers at the line, close windows at the catch point and contest back-shoulder and fade balls that shorter corners can't reach
  • Proven against top competition: he started at corner for an undefeated 15-0 Georgia 4A state champion (beat Benedictine 42-39 in the final), so he has handled a full playoff run against strong metro-Atlanta and statewide talent
  • Strong P4 interest: he held about 20 offers, including Georgia, Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas and Georgia Tech, and took official visits to both Alabama and Tennessee, which shows SEC staffs value his traits more than the overall ranking suggests
  • Close relationship with Alabama's position coach: Maurice Linguist was his main recruiter, which usually means the staff has a defined development plan and role for him

Areas to Improve

  • Add mass and play strength: at 170 pounds he has to get much stronger to win physical reps in press, shed perimeter blockers and tackle reliably against SEC backs and big receivers
  • Hip fluidity and transitions: tall corners often struggle to sink and turn against quick slot routes and double moves; his footwork in transitions and his patience at the line will decide whether he can stay outside or ends up at safety
  • Consistency in run support and tackling technique, which often lags for long, lean high school corners whose film is mostly coverage reps

College Projection

Developmental redshirt candidate. Year 1: special teams and scout team while he spends a full strength-and-conditioning cycle getting to about 185-190 pounds. Years 2-3: rotational boundary corner who could start once his strength and transitions catch up with his length. If his hips limit him in man coverage, the fallback is a move to safety, where his length and range still fit. A reasonable path to a starting role is his third year on campus.

Best Fit

A press-heavy, long-corner system like Alabama's, where the staff values length on the boundary and has the strength program and the patience to develop a lean 6-3 corner over 2-3 years. He would struggle most in a scheme that asks him to play a lot of off-man against quick slot receivers early in his career.
