SEC Morning Report: Mizzou's Mark Mitchell Earns All-SEC Honors, Kentucky Football Bolsters Staff

Missouri's Mitchell Leads All-SEC Selections

Missouri Tigers forward Mark Mitchell has been named to the All-SEC Second Team for the second consecutive year, capping a stellar senior season. Mitchell has been a dominant force for the Tigers, leading the team in scoring (17.9 PPG), rebounding (5.2 RPG), and assists (3.6 APG). His all-around performance places him in elite company, as he is on track to become just the second player in Missouri history to lead the program in all three major statistical categories.

Mitchell's production has been historically significant. He is one of only five players in the nation this season with over 550 points, 160 rebounds, and 110 assists. Furthermore, he is positioned to be the first Tiger to average at least 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists since former Big Eight Player of the Year Anthony Peeler accomplished the feat in 1992. The honor is Mitchell's second All-SEC nod, making him just the second Tiger, alongside Kobe Brown, to receive multiple All-SEC selections. Mitchell and the Tigers will begin their postseason journey on Thursday in the second round of the SEC Tournament in Nashville, where they will face the winner of the Kentucky vs. LSU matchup.

Elsewhere in Columbia, the Missouri baseball team is riding a 12-game winning streak, with infielder Tyler Macon earning SEC Extra's Player of the Week honors. The Mizzou gymnastics team also continues to impress, holding steady at No. 7 in the national rankings after a strong road performance against Georgia.
